I grew up around the markets, business, and the idea of opportunity. That early exposure to the capital markets shaped how I think before I ever had language for it; how to spot value before it’s obvious, how businesses actually work versus how they’re described, and how much of success comes down to people, timing and nerve. My early career gave me the on-the-ground version of that education: raising capital, learning companies from the inside, and making enough early mistakes to take it seriously.
Over 20-plus years I’ve worked as a founder, operator, advisor and investor, across public and private companies, startups and turnarounds. Strategy, positioning, leadership, capital raising, M&A transactions, communications, and more. I’ve had wins and I’ve had failures, and they’ve all taught me by fire about what actually moves a company forward.
Music, film, writing, ideas. Creativity has never been a side interest sitting apart from the business; it’s the same instinct wearing a different outfit. Making a company work and making a song, a story or an idea come to life both start the same way: seeing something before it fully exists, then figuring out how to bring it into the world as you go.
“When you start on the way, the way appears.” ~ Rumi
Eventually the version of success I was chasing stopped working. I burned out. I quit drinking. I changed how I lived, and I started asking harder questions about what I actually wanted, not just what looked good from the outside. It wasn’t a dramatic collapse so much as a slow realization that I couldn’t keep going the way I was going.
So I packed my bags. What followed was a roughly 10-month solo pilgrimage by land and sea, from Vancouver, without much of a plan for what came next. Each day I travelled deeper into the unknown, and myself, on a journey that took me as far as Panama, and back.
That trip taught me things no business book ever had; about presence, intuition and paying attention to what’s actually happening instead of what I expected to happen. About sitting with fear and uncertainty instead of managing around them. About patterns, timing, people, and learning to trust my own instincts in a situation. About learning to see, not just with my eyes.
At some point I realized these weren’t separate lives.
Markets. Companies. Entrepreneurship. Investing. Creativity. Travel. Personal transformation. Different rooms, same instinct: notice what’s not obvious yet, imagine what it could become, and help move it toward reality. That instinct is what connects a term sheet to a song to a ten-month trip with no fixed plan. Building bridges between worlds.

BUILD · INVEST · CREATE · EVOLVE
I’m still building, still experimenting, still travelling, still creating, still making mistakes and following curiosity where it leads. I’m still working on myself, and this work never ends. Over the years, a few things I’ve learned for sure, while this site is less a finished philosophy than a running account of what I’m learning and building as I go.
This site is a space for ideas, perspectives, companies, capital, creativity and personal growth; the interesting things I come across and the things I’m building, laid out in one place. As a fortune I still keep over my desk once said, “share your wisdom with future travellers”. If something I’ve learned or experienced helps you see something differently, or move something meaningful in your own life forward, this site is doing what it’s meant to do.
